Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society Limited is a leading dairy processor on the island of Ireland, with a complex and ambitious business model. We are seeking a skilled Process Engineer to join our Manufacturing Team in Newtownards.
Job SummaryThe successful candidate will be responsible for developing and improving all process aspects of Newtownards Liquid processing from Milk Intake to Filling machines. This will involve working cross-functionally to optimize yields, energy, water usage, chemical usage, CIP validation, and effectively managing solids to ensure our effluent plant runs efficiently.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement process improvements to optimize yields, energy, and water usage
- Work closely with projects and other functions to scope the correct processing equipment for new products
- Advise on new technology to ensure we are at the cutting edge of emulsion technology
- Scope and accept new equipment for the site
- Set the standard for liquid processing going forward
- Work closely with Operations to ensure we have the correct maintenance programs
- Ensure our processes are best in class to manufacture goods at the highest possible quality and lowest possible cost
The successful candidate will have a relevant 3rd-level qualification (engineering discipline) with a minimum of 2 years working experience within manufacturing/engineering (ideally dairy) or qualification by experience from within a manufacturing/engineering background (minimum of 5 years).
The candidate must have a proven track record as a process 'subject matter expert' with the technical depth to adapt this knowledge to new technologies. It is desirable if the candidate has previous experience of improvement projects and can demonstrate the ability to use continuous improvement (CI) tools.
The candidate must have knowledge in CI methods to overall equipment effectiveness, quality, reduce cost, inefficiencies, and waste. The successful candidate will have a good working knowledge of MS Office to include Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and will be able to use 2D CAD Systems (e.g. AutoCAD) or willing to train in CAD software.
