Howdens Joinery Co. is seeking an experienced Architect to join our Infrastructure team on a permanent basis. As a key member of our team, you will provide technical design expertise for the continual development of our network and infrastructure technology landscape. This is a full-time role based from our office in Brackmills, Northampton, with a mix of office and home working. You will work closely with our IT teams to ensure the successful implementation and maintenance of infrastructure projects, governing the infrastructure that supports over 12,000 users across multiple locations. Key responsibilities include ensuring high availability, performance, and security of the network and systems, as well as documenting and developing in-depth knowledge of our existing network infrastructure architecture and technology portfolio.

  • Windows servers
  • Windows clients
  • AIX and Linux servers
  • Excellent understanding of best practice infrastructure and network architectures
  • Broad knowledge of IT and industry best practices
  • A good working knowledge of IP, Ethernet, routing and switching within LAN/WAN/Data Centre/ Public Cloud environments
  • Understanding of Software Defined Networking
  • Experienced in network security products, for example Firewalls, IPS/IDS
