About the Role
Skanska, a leading project development and construction group, is seeking a Construction Director to lead our Infrastructure team in Kent on a major highways project. As a key member of the Strategic Leadership Team, you will be responsible for the operational delivery of the project, ensuring it is completed safely, on budget, and to the required quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction and leadership to the construction team, prioritizing Health, Safety, and Wellbeing, while promoting a progressive approach to reducing carbon emissions.
- Lead the construction team to deliver the project in line with established key objectives and outcomes, fostering a collaborative strategy and championing the company's Vision, Values, and Behaviours.
- Define the organization of the construction team, ensuring clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability levels, and facilitating coordination, standardization, and consistency across sections.
- Support the detailed design phase, ensuring an efficient and buildable design is produced, and challenge the design and construction teams to find innovative solutions to technical issues.
- Ensure supply chain arrangements are appropriate and efficiently managed, and subcontracts are correctly administered.
- Set clear targets for the construction team to measure performance and drive continuous improvement, fostering an inclusive culture to maximize the effectiveness of a diverse team.
Requirements
- Proven experience of successfully delivering major highways schemes at Project Director level, preferably for National Highways.
- Extensive experience and knowledge of highway construction methods and supply chain partners.
- Progressive attitude to carbon reduction, social value, stakeholder management, and Inclusion and Diversity.
- Experience of building and maintaining an inclusive culture.
