Job Title: Activity Leader

Barracudas Activity Day Camps is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Activity Leader to join our team. As an Activity Leader, you will be responsible for delivering a variety of activities to children aged 5-14, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist with the setup and maintenance of a suitable base room area, ensuring it is inviting and safe for children.
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure a fun and safe environment for children.
  • Deliver activity sessions as per the prepared timetable, working with other staff to ensure a variety of activities are provided.
  • Ensure the needs of children in your care are met, with active supervision and attention throughout the day.
  • Use resources to plan and deliver activities with structure and enthusiasm, encouraging maximum participation from children.
  • Get to know children as individuals, incorporating their interests into their day on camp.
  • Take responsibility for general welfare and safeguarding, ensuring the safe use of equipment and its proper storage.
Requirements:
  • Experience or qualifications working with children.
  • Aged 18 or over by the start date of your contract.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Provide satisfactory professional/academic references.
  • Enthusiastic, caring, and organized, with excellent communication skills and the ability to use initiative.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable challenges within a childcare setting.
  • Enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
  • Complete Online Training annually.
  • Attend Induction Training Day ahead of your first working season.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the company fulfills all Health and Safety obligations, following instructions and showing a proactive approach to safety issues.
  • Deliver activities that are appropriate for children in your care, within the scope of your qualifications, skills, and knowledge.
  • Encourage children to participate in new activities, ensuring the activity program is as directed on the timetable.
  • Ensure children under your supervision behave in a safe manner, always knowing their whereabouts and respecting them as individuals.
  • Carefully follow camp systems, including registration and collection procedures, Health and Safety systems, and guidelines on good practice in child welfare.
  • Be a positive role model, promoting a healthy lifestyle, good hygiene precautions, and considering the welfare of children.
  • Report any concerns regarding Child Protection to your Senior Team or a Designated Person at the Central Office.
  • Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate children with additional needs or medical conditions.
