About the Location

Our Basingstoke site features various facilities, including specialist manufacturing, laboratories, and a logistics center. We produce products such as culture media, anti-microbial susceptibility tests, and freeze-dried supplements, which are used to diagnose diseases, resolve antibiotic treatment plans, and ensure food samples are free from contamination.

The location has around 450 employees.

The Role

In this role, you will coordinate the continuous improvement program within the site engineering team, ensuring compliance with EHS & Quality for site, company, and legislative systems.

You will drive improvements in performance to deliver outstanding customer service safely and compliantly.

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and implement safety processes and systems to meet site, corporate, and regulatory requirements, including PSSR2000, LOLER1998, PUWER1998, and CDM2015.
  2. Ensure Safe Systems of Work are promoted through mentorship and hazard observation system.
  3. Support the creation and implementation of engineering-based risk assessments, ensuring routine review is completed.

Additionally, you will:

  1. Coordinate departmental compliance, investigating non-conformances/deviations, CAPA, and audit findings (internal and external).
  2. Quantify, intensify, and mitigate risks in a timely manner.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Customer Service: Management and coordination of site/department shutdowns – engaging with site planning team and partners to minimize downtime and business impact.
  • Ownership of actions as part of daily tier process where performance is not at the expected level.
  • Demonstrate the use of appropriate problem-solving tools (Root Cause Counter Measure) working with engineering teams, peer group, and wider site.
  • Develop and sustain a planned maintenance program suitable for the site needs.
  • Management and ownership of engineering root cause counter-measure program aiming towards a zero repeat breakdown culture.
  • Identify waste in maintenance systems and processes, implementing corrective actions to eliminate.
  • Promote a Practical Performance Improvement culture (PPI), problem-solving (RCCM), and Kaizen activities to deliver resolutions to worthy business problems.
  • Collaborate with your peer group to introduce process improvements safely and compliantly, demonstrating value to the customer.
  • Deputize for Site Engineering Manager when required.
