About the Role

Ameresco Ltd is seeking an experienced Energy Engineer to lead our technical development efforts. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for driving the development of all aspects of our High Level Assessments (HLAs) and Investment Grade Proposals (IGPs).

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Leadership: Assume overall responsibility for the development of all aspects of HLAs and IGP, ensuring that they meet the highest standards of quality and technical excellence.
  • Energy Audits and Site Surveys: Conduct energy audits and site surveys at potential customer sites to identify and develop opportunities for technical solutions, including energy conservation measures (ECMs) and renewables.
  • Engineering Design: Develop engineering outline design, including equipment sizing and layout, system performance and operation parameters, control philosophy, outline system drawings, constructability assessment, risk assessment, and project programme.
  • Feasibility Studies and Analysis: Conduct feasibility studies, techno-economic analysis, and energy modelling, including EPC, PPA, and EaaS across various renewables and clean technologies.
  • Project Development: Produce outline engineering work package and scope of work document for contractors to provide pricing, and prepare project capital cost, energy savings calculations, and financial evaluations of proposed ECMs.
  • Client Liaison: Liaise with client stakeholders and attend regular client project meetings to ensure that their needs are met and that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Technical Reporting: Prepare technical reports, presentations, and all project supporting documentation, detailing buildings, building systems, data analysis results, and energy savings opportunities.
  • Operational Improvement: Assist in improving operations, decreasing turnaround times, streamlining work processes, and working cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service.
Requirements
  • Education: Engineering degree, or equivalent, preferably in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical.
  • Professional Qualifications: Achieved or working towards chartered engineer status, PAS 2035 Retrofit Assessor, or Domestic Energy Assessor (DEA) qualifications advantageous.
  • Experience: Minimum 4 years of experience working in energy engineering, renewables, or decarbonisation, with strong understanding of engineering principles associated with building services.
  • Skills: Demonstrated lead development skills, including the ability to build project scopes and assess constructability of systems, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI, excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Additional Requirements: Experience working on UK Public Sector Tender Frameworks, including ReFiT, LHC, Essentia, CEF, and SNDEE advantageous.

They will be customer-focused, passionate about energy engineering, renewable energy, and decarbonisation, with good organisational skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritise work under pressure, and complete within deadlines.

Proven ability to manage and complete complex engineering projects in a timely, cost-effective, and customer-focused manner. The job requires the willingness to travel across the UK and abroad, while based in Guildford, London, Bristol, or Wales.
