Engineer - Mechanical Maintenance

We seek a Senior Mechanical Engineer to oversee the maintenance operations of an Energy from Waste (EFW) power station situated near Knottingley, Yorkshire. With a processing capacity of over 700,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste annually, the plant generates approximately 85MW for the grid, powering up to 170,000 homes.
About the Job:
- The selected candidate will be responsible for managing a team of technicians in carrying out scheduled and unplanned maintenance activities across the site.
- Ensuring a safe working environment within the maintenance department and among contractors employed by them.
- Adhering to all statutory inspection requirements, ensuring comprehensive and up-to-date documentation.
- Collaborating with the EC&I Engineer and Maintenance Manager in planning and executing outages/shutdowns.
- Optimizing maintenance activities through effective utilization of the site’s Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
- Participating in the development of contract scope of works for service contracts and conducting contract performance reviews.
- Developing specifications for long-term service agreements and maintenance contracts.
- Supervising contractors on-site to guarantee site compliance.
Key Requirements:
- A minimum of five years of post-apprenticeship experience in a mechanical maintenance/engineering function within the power sector or similar field.
- A comprehensive understanding of engineering and maintenance principles associated with rotating and static plant found on an EFW plant, including turbines, boilers, pumps, compressors, water treatment plant, etc.
- Knowledge of contract management principles and practices.
