We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Housing Officer to join our team at Look Ahead. As a Housing Officer, you will be responsible for managing the housing needs of our customers, ensuring that they have access to safe and secure accommodation.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and update customer information on our housing management database
- Ensure that customers receive the correct housing benefit claims and maintain accurate records
- Request rent adjustments and repayment of over-payments
- Support customers to have the most appropriate payment method for their individual circumstances
- Respond to customer queries relating to housing management
- Ensure that customers are kept informed of their rent account status and that action plans are agreed to address any arrears or other rent-related issues
- Issue arrears warning letters and record actions on the rent system
- Monitor rent accounts on a weekly basis and inform relevant specialists and management of any formal action required
- Produce and post rent increase letters and rent statements quarterly
- Maintain spreadsheets associated with rent payments, housing benefit, and legal action
- Manage customer breaches of tenancy and issue warning letters in conjunction with support staff
- Undertake health and safety checks and prepare files and documents for legal action
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about delivering excellent customer service and has a strong understanding of housing management principles. You will be a confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Requirements- Experience of monitoring rent accounts and managing rent arrears
- Experience of using computerised rent systems to monitor arrears and record information
- Extensive knowledge of welfare benefits, especially housing benefit
- Experience of liaising with housing benefit departments, the DWP, and other external agencies
- Confidence in interpreting rent accounts and using IT packages to run and create reports, identify priorities, and update records
