Maintenance Supervisor Job Overview
The Maintenance Supervisor will oversee all aspects of site maintenance and health and safety priorities, including planned and reactive maintenance. They will also manage new projects to improve site facilities, adopting a proactive approach to both compliance and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities as a Maintenance Supervisor
- Ensure the security and appearance of company buildings and surrounding areas meet company standards.
- Conduct daily/weekly site checks to uphold standards.
- Plan and execute preventative maintenance, including minor electrical repairs, minor plumbing issues, basic building upkeep, and emergency tasks.
- Identify and report major maintenance needs to the Production Manager.
- Adhere to safe work systems and maintain a tidy workshop.
- Perform maintenance risk assessments and PAT testing on electrical equipment.
- Maintain building utilities as needed.
- Supervise maintenance contracts and coordinate with contractors, providing mini-inductions on hazards, emergency procedures, first aid, alarms, and contacts.
- Manage and coordinate with contractors to ensure legal compliance.
- Act as the point of contact for site security, CCTV monitoring, and key holding, both during and after hours.
Requirements for the Maintenance Supervisor Role
- Candidate must have City & Guilds or NVQ level 3 in mechanical and electrical maintenance or a recognised formal apprenticeship.
- Candidate must be competent in basic building repairs and maintenance, with the ability to work with hardware tools and power equipment.
- Candidate must be self-motivated, with the ability to work unsupervised.
- Candidate must be flexible and committed to working hard and completing tasks within agreed timescales.
- Candidate must be extremely organised, with good communication skills.
- Candidate must be detail-orientated, with an aptitude for problem-solving.
- Candidate must have knowledge of health and safety procedures and precautions, including COSHH regulations and an awareness of health and hygiene procedures.
- Candidate must be competent in Microsoft packages, including Excel and Word.
