About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health Improvement Practitioner to join our team at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Healthy Schools Team, you will play a vital role in leading the area of Drugs, Alcohol and Risk Taking Behaviours.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working with children and young people, delivering training and education on PSHE education, specifically in the field of drugs, alcohol and risk taking behaviours. You will also have experience of project management, leading health programmes and interventions, and supporting the continued professional development of other professionals through training.

Main Responsibilities

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Developing and delivering training and education programmes for children and young people on PSHE education, specifically in the field of drugs, alcohol and risk taking behaviours
  • Leading health programmes and interventions, including project management and monitoring and evaluation using data
  • Supporting the continued professional development of other professionals through training and education
  • Working closely with teachers and other professionals, both within and outside education-based settings
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with a range of professionals, including teachers, health professionals and community groups

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification in the field of drugs, alcohol and risk taking behaviours, School Nursing, teaching (PGCE) or Public Health
  • Experience of working with children and young people, delivering training and education on PSHE education, specifically in the field of drugs, alcohol and risk taking behaviours
  • Experience of project management, leading health programmes and interventions, and supporting the continued professional development of other professionals through training
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and leadership skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Full UK driving license and access to a vehicle
