Scientist/Senior Scientist – Downstream Processing Specialist

CPI is seeking a highly skilled Scientist/Senior Scientist to join our team in Downstream Processing. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering technical projects, working across multidiscipline teams, and contributing to the research and development of downstream processing technologies.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, develop, and scale-up downstream processes for the separation/purification of bio-based feedstocks.
- Develop, optimise, scale-up, and characterise primary recovery/separation-based processing methods such as centrifugation, cell disruption, and filtration.
- Develop, optimise, scale-up, and characterise isolation-based processing methods such as chromatography and tangential flow filtration techniques.
- Develop, optimise, scale-up, and characterise drying techniques such as freeze, spray, and fluidised bed drying.
- Contribute to the continuous design and technical expertise of downstream processing within the DSP team via internal projects to increase knowledge/capability for greater client offering.
- Education to a minimum level of HNC/Foundation degree (or equivalent) in a Scientific/Engineering discipline with relevant industry experience.
- Experience of working in one or more of the following biotechnology sectors: food & feed, agritech, healthcare & biopharmaceuticals.
- Technical expertise in downstream processing, with evidence of technical problem solving.
- Experience of process development and carrying out data analysis.
- Experience of performing techniques for the purification of biobased feedstocks and protein analysis.
- Theoretical and practical knowledge in Biochemistry, Biological Separation/Purification, Biochemical Engineering, and relevant analytical techniques.
