The Rota Coordinator role is a critical position within the Maternity and Gynaecology Division, requiring strong organisational and communication skills. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing medical staff rotas, ensuring a high-quality patient care experience is provided. This includes coordinating Consultant and Junior Doctor rotas, anticipating problems, and working through them in a methodical manner.

This role requires close liaison with Consultants, Junior Doctors, Clinical Leads, Clinical Directors, and management teams, with a focus on maintaining effective communication and ensuring appropriate cover for the division. The Rota Coordinator will provide day-to-day support for Consultants and Junior Doctors, administering and communicating rotas, and acting as a single point of contact for Junior Doctors. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for this role.

  • The Rota Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Maternity and Gynaecology Division, including the administration of Consultant and Junior Doctor rotas, ensuring that service requirements are met, and arranging cover at short notice for sick leave and special leave. This role requires tactful and persuasive communication with all medical staff to maintain appropriate cover at all times.
  • The Rota Coordinator will also be responsible for implementing departmental rotas in line with the Working Time Directive and the New Junior Doctors Contract, as agreed by the Divisional Directors and Medical Workforce. This includes coordinating rotas for Consultants and Junior Doctors, ensuring that all rotas are implemented in a timely and efficient manner.
