Job Title: Orthoptist Specialist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Orthoptist Specialist to join our team at Northampton General Hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing a comprehensive quality Orthoptic service for all patients referred to the Orthoptic department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and diagnose new patients and develop and manage a specialized treatment package appropriate to the needs of the individual patient.
  • Contribute to the training of various health professionals, including undergraduate orthoptists, pre-reg Optometrists, junior doctors, and nurses.
  • Carry out visual field testing on patients referred by Ophthalmologists, Neurologists, and other medical practitioners within the hospital.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of techniques and technology and attend appropriate training as part of our CPD.
  • Manage and incorporate any unplanned workload to minimize inconvenience to patients and maximize the smooth running of the Orthoptic and eye clinics.

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent level in orthoptics.
  • Self-motivated and able to analyze clinical data and formulate management plans.
