About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Operational Work Area Manager to join our team at the Chelmsford Mail Centre. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for leading a dedicated team of 25 full and part-time employees, ensuring the smooth operation of our manual and automated areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team to maximise performance and achieve operational targets
  • Develop and implement health and safety initiatives to ensure a safe working environment
  • Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency
  • Support the Shift Manager in providing a high-quality service to our customers
  • Manage and maintain accurate records and reports to inform business decisions
Requirements
  • Proven experience in a leadership or management role, preferably in a logistics or parcel distribution environment
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate team members
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to inform business decisions
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including late shifts
