About the Role
The National Grid is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and transitioning to a cleaner, greener energy system. As a Senior Procurement Buyer, you will play a critical role in supporting this goal by leading Pathfinder tenders and developing innovative commercial strategies.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop insights to inform category management decisions, analyzing supply markets and emerging trends.
- Lead Pathfinder tenders, identifying optimal sourcing strategies and managing events from market engagement to contract award.
- Project manage strategic Pathfinder tenders, ensuring timely delivery and maintaining key project documentation.
- Support the Procurement Manager in driving value creation across the procured spend base, leveraging volume leverage, quality tender documentation, and supplier innovation.
- Collate data on spend performance and provide analysis and recommendations for action.
- Identify and mitigate risks to prevent disruptions to procurement delivery.
- Maintain knowledge of the National Grid's policies and frameworks for contract and supplier management, ensuring compliance and escalating issues as necessary.
- Develop relationships with internal stakeholders and ensure a systematic and compliant approach to managing spend.
About You
We're looking for a seasoned procurement professional with:
- Previous experience in understanding, identifying, and executing multiple opportunities across various spend categories to deliver value.
- Comprehensive experience in managing large-scale tendering events.
- Experience in major infrastructure procurement, regulated procurement, and/or energy markets is highly desirable.
- Excellent interpersonal, stakeholder, and contract management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Experience in supply chain management in complex environments.
- A track record of driving value beyond straightforward procurement savings, using lean techniques to identify and eliminate waste.
- Excellent project management skills.
- Comfortable with procurement compliance and good influencing and negotiation skills to drive optimum value through contract awards.
