**Job Description:**

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced teaching assistant to join our team at Axcis Education Recruitment. The successful candidate will be working in a mainstream primary school in Erdington, Birmingham, supporting a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other special educational needs.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the pupil with ASD in a 1:1 setting, promoting their learning and development through the use of Makaton communication methods.
  • Assist the class teacher with lesson planning and delivery, ensuring that the pupil's needs are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of the pupil's progress and contribute to regular review meetings.

Requirements:

  • Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Have a proven track record of using Makaton effectively in the classroom.
  • Be able to remain calm and composed in challenging situations.
  • Hold a valid DBS certificate that is registered on the Update Service, or be willing to undergo a new DBS check.
