Job Title: Charity Trustee (HR)

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Charity Trustee (HR) to join our Board of Trustees. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in shaping the future of Walsingham Support and ensuring the organisation remains a leader in the social care sector.

About the Role

The Charity Trustee (HR) will be responsible for providing strategic HR advice to the Board and senior leadership, helping to shape our people strategy and ensure the effective and efficient administration of Walsingham Support. You will work closely with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to provide purposeful support, scrutiny, and constructive challenge.

Main Responsibilities
  • Contribute actively to the Board's responsibility for the governance of the organisation, ensuring that Walsingham Support applies its resources exclusively to pursue its charitable objects.
  • Act as an ambassador for the organisation, promoting the work of Walsingham Support and safeguarding its good name and values.
  • Ensure the quality-of-service provision and financial viability of Walsingham Support.
  • Provide HR advice to the Board and senior leadership, helping to shape our people strategy.
  • Ensure that processes are in place to recruit and retain staff with the required skills, capabilities, and values to deliver high-quality, safe, personalised, and progressive services to the people we support.
Requirements

We are looking for a candidate who meets at least one of the following criteria:

  • Chartered Member or Fellow of the CIPD
  • Substantial experience at a Senior/Director HR professional level
  • A thorough understanding of HR policy and practice

Other desirable criteria include:

  • Understanding of the role of charity boards and their responsibilities and operation, gained through previous experience as an Executive Director or Non-Executive Director/Trustee.
  • Above all else, you will be intrinsically values-driven and committed to enabling more individuals we support to live their lives to the full.

Terms of Appointment

This role is unremunerated and offered on a voluntary basis. Trustees are encouraged to visit services that are local to them, and travel and accommodation expenses are reimbursed for meetings and visits.

The time commitment is at least one day a month, with six board meetings a year and four committee meetings a year. The term of office for trustees is three years, which can then be extended by an additional two terms of three years. The maximum tenure for any trustee is nine years.
