Cranfield, United Kingdom Cranfield University Full time
About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral research fellow to join our team at the Cranfield Environment Centre. The successful candidate will work on an exciting NERC project called "Resilient coasts: optimising co-benefit solutions (Co-Opt)". This project aims to develop an integrated and interdisciplinary economic modelling framework to examine the costs and benefits of nature-based coastal defences.

The ideal candidate will have a doctoral degree in a relevant subject, such as environmental economics or ecosystem services valuation, with demonstrable applied experience in environmental economics and quantitative economic research. Excellent modelling skills, particularly in Excel, are required. The candidate should also have experience in applying social science methods to investigate how social perceptions, support, and concerns might vary between grey and green coastal management options.

The successful candidate will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of scientists and project stakeholders to develop and apply the economic modelling framework. The role will involve developing new quantitative economic modelling tools, conducting case studies, and identifying how nature-based coastal management options and ecosystem services can provide options for coastal management.

We offer a dynamic and supportive work environment, with opportunities for professional development and collaboration with a team of experts in environmental science and economics. If you are passionate about environmental economics and coastal zone management, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
