About the Role

Harcourt Matthews is seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Project Manager to join our team. As a key member of our Legal Operations division, you will play a crucial role in driving the development and growth of our Legal Project Management (LPM) function.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work closely with lawyers to provide project management support on large and complex matters, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Develop and implement matter plans, budgets, workflows, timelines, and scope definitions, taking into account assumptions and prices.
  • Proactively manage changes in scope, identify risks, and develop contingencies to mitigate potential issues.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team to produce financial progress reports, analyze work in progress, and identify out-of-scope actions.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate fee reports, ensuring transparency and compliance.
  • Drive forward specific client initiatives, develop relationships with clients, and promote the value of LPM to their business.
  • Build and maintain project management tools, methodologies, resources, and technologies, ensuring seamless integration and adoption.
  • Support lawyers in the use of LPM tools and technologies, providing training and guidance as needed.
  • Identify and support process, policy, and procedure improvements across the LPM function and legal service delivery.
  • Develop and deliver project management training for lawyers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.
  • Contribute to the development of a culture that supports and encourages LPM, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment.
  • Develop and present communications to support the growth of the LPM function, both internally and through pitches and client proposals.
  • Stay up-to-date with market trends, horizon spot, and identify opportunities for LPM support as part of a trusted adviser relationship.
  • Remain abreast of developments, changes, and improvements in LPM, ensuring the function remains at the forefront of industry best practices.
Requirements
  • Experience as a legal project manager or a qualified real estate lawyer and/or real estate professional looking to transition into LPM.
  • Prince2 or other project management certification is desirable.
  • Understanding of law firm processes and lawyer-client relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills, operating at a senior level.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, with a demonstrable commitment to the success of the department as a business.
  • Sound understanding of all stages of the legal project lifecycle and ability to apply project management principles.
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to deliver to agreed timetables while managing multiple projects concurrently.
