Job Overview

Venesky-Brown's client, a public sector organisation in the Highlands, is seeking a highly skilled Head of Estates to lead their estates and facilities management team. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic organisation and contribute to the delivery of their strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the organisation's estate, including buildings, land, and infrastructure, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and legislation.
  • Develop and implement an up-to-date estate strategy, aligned with the organisation's overall goals and objectives.
  • Lead and manage the estates and facilities team to deliver a proactive, efficient, and effective service to stakeholders.
  • Ensure the organisation's environment is safe and healthy, with effective systems, policies, and processes in place.
  • Work closely with the senior management team to provide management, support, advice, and representation on all estate matters.
  • Manage the estates department budget, including capital projects and procurement.
  • Liaise with stakeholders, both internally and externally, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Submit regular reports to the Estates and Finance Committee and the Board of Directors.

Requirements:

  • A relevant professional qualification in buildings or estates management, or equivalent experience.
  • A thorough knowledge of current legislation affecting property and estates, including fire safety, health and safety, compliance, and building regulations.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, including experience of leading and developing teams.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong financial management and budget skills, including experience of procurement and value-for-money.
  • Experience of working in a senior leadership role and managing building projects and maintenance programmes.

Desirable Skills:

  • A recognised qualification in Health and Safety Management.
  • Knowledge of Gaelic or a willingness to learn.
