Job Description: Learning Assistant Coordinator
Polaris is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Learning Assistant Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our school community, you will play a vital role in supporting our students with Special Educational Needs and Mental Health (SEMH).
About the JobIn this role, you will work closely with the Classroom Teacher to develop and implement tailored support plans for our students. You will also provide mentorship and guidance to help our students overcome challenges and reach their full potential.
The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work effectively as part of a team, and possess a strong understanding of SEMH. Previous experience in a similar role is essential, as well as a commitment to ongoing professional development.
Key Responsibilities- Mentor and support one pupil or a small group of up to six pupils
- Support the Classroom Teacher during lessons
- Report on pupils' progress and concerns, and liaise with other School staff to ensure pupils' needs are met
- Supervise pupils during non-classroom time, including extra-curricular activities and school trips
- Assist with lesson planning and classroom preparation
- Set work where appropriate, and mark assignments
- Build positive relationships with your pupil(s) and drive interaction and positive learning outcomes
- A strong basic education, ideally to A-level, with a minimum of GCSE Grade C or equivalent in English Language and Mathematics, and sound IT skills
- Previous experience in a similar role, such as a Teaching Assistant
- Some previous experience of working with pupils with SEMH within an Educational setting
- Experience of behaviour management and techniques
- Committed to professional development and willing to learn
- Must be willing to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check prior to commencing work

The salary for this position is £19,186.02 - £22,160.57 per annum.
