Job Title: Senior Estimator - Civils Lead

Job Description:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to lead our civils estimating department. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the Civils sector and possess strong leadership and organisational skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Source suitable tender opportunities through thorough research and market analysis.
  2. Submit accurate quotations that result in successful work orders at a pre-agreed profit margin, ensuring timely delivery and client satisfaction.
  3. Develop and maintain relationships with key suppliers, negotiating prices to secure best value for the company.
  4. Advocate for the company mission statement and uphold its values in all aspects of work.
  5. Manage and support Contract Administrators within the team.
  6. Establish and maintain effective communication channels with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams.

Key Tasks:

  1. Review and analyse tender documentation to ensure thorough understanding of project requirements and specifications.
  2. Prepare pricing cost control matrices to establish accurate rates and demonstrate value-added services.
  3. Identify and source alternative supply chain products through active market research and supplier engagement.
  4. Record and chase feedback from clients on tender submissions, ensuring continuous improvement.
  5. Set up project files following successful project award, preparing them for handover to the operations team.
  6. Support the team in delivering high-quality bid submissions, utilising estimating software and tools to enhance precision.
  7. Conduct site visits and client meetings during the tender, pre-start, and construction phases of schemes.
  8. Verify invoice checks and approvals, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  9. Secure materials and place purchase orders, considering lead times and supply chain management.
  10. Collaborate with senior management and other members of the project team to refine estimates as needed.
  11. Stay up-to-date with industry developments and trends, applying knowledge to enhance estimating skills and processes.
