We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Engineer to join our Civil Structures team in Leeds. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the design and delivery of complex civil structures projects, including bridges and ancillary civil structures.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the design and delivery of civil structures projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Provide technical guidance and support to colleagues, including mentoring and training.
- Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Assess and document design changes, communicating effectively with the Project Manager.
- Review projects on completion, recommending improvements to technical policy, processes, and design solutions.
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural engineering.
- 10+ years relevant post-qualification structures design experience, with a strong record of project delivery in structures design.
- Chartered Membership of the ICE or IStructE.
- Significant experience with design to Eurocodes and DMRB.
- Experience mentoring graduate engineers under ICE or IStructE training schemes.
- Extensive experience of delivering projects within tight timescales.
- Proficient with structural design and analysis software, such as Autodesk Structural Bridge Design, LUSAS, or similar.
- Significant previous experience of providing project governance on projects.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt your style to suit different audiences.
- Extensive civil structures design experience, including working on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Experience of working on projects from initial tender/bid submissions, project management, leading the production of engineering drawings, obtaining statutory or third-party approvals, project administration, etc.
- The ability to gain insight beyond a client's immediate need to identify opportunities that benefit the client through meaningful and productive relationships.
- Ability to communicate in a fluent and positive manner with other team members and to produce reports in clear English.
- A full UK driving licence.
