About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and responsible individual to join our pharmacy team as a pharmacy assistant based in the dispensary at Ipswich hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  • Dispense medication, including controlled drugs, unlicensed medicines, and cytotoxic medicines, to in-patients and out-patients.
  • Attend to patients, customers, and hospital staff at the reception hatches.
  • Collect prescription charges from eligible out-patients and issue tickets.
  • Record requests on a computerized tracking system for discharge prescriptions and inpatient charts received in and dispatched from pharmacy.
  • Check patient exemptions and ensure patients complete relevant information on the back of the prescription.
Requirements
  • At least 2 GCSEs (or equivalent) Grade C or above, including maths and English.
  • Willing and able to undertake the L2 Pharmacy Service Assistant course or other relevant course as required.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work calmly in a busy environment.
