Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Cancer Centre Team at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, primarily based at Hospital Close, Leicester General. The role involves working closely with multi-disciplinary teams to facilitate and coordinate the function of a Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meeting, ensuring effective running and follow-up of agreed outcomes to support an effective patient pathway.

Main Duties of the Job

Key responsibilities include monitoring and tracking patients on a suspected cancer pathway, ensuring compliance with Next Steps and adherence to local and national waiting times targets. The role also involves tracking referrals with suspected cancer, ensuring patient appointments and treatment are booked to meet agreed timescales/targets, working in line with Next Steps.

Other key duties include facilitating and coordinating the function of the Cancer Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings, ensuring meetings run effectively and are well structured. This involves preparing, organising, and circulating agendas, ensuring all members of the MDT are advised of the meeting date/time/location, recording and collating attendance of MDT meetings in accordance with Peer review requirements.

Key Working Relationships

The role involves maintaining effective and efficient communication with various stakeholders, including Cancer Navigator Team Leader, Cancer Centre Lead Nurse, Cancer Centre Manager, Cancer Centre Lead Clinician, Cancer MDT Co-ordinators, Cancer Centre Data Manager, Cancer Patient Trackers, 2 Week Wait Administrators, Chairs of Multidisciplinary Teams, Tumour Site Lead Clinicians, and Members of Clinical Multidisciplinary Teams.

Key Result Areas

The role requires working primarily independently and on own initiative with minimal supervision to carry out the duties of the post. Key result areas include tracking patients referred as suspected cancer, ensuring all diagnostics and follow-up appointments are booked to meet agreed timescales/targets, working in line with Next Steps. The role also involves tracking patient test results, determining what further action is necessary, liaising with the clinician, and ensuring relevant information is available for discussion at the MDT.

Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have 2 years of administrative experience, experience of dealing with customers/patients, and experience of data input. Essential skills include effective communication skills, ability to prioritise schedules and workloads. Desirable skills include exposure to dealing with complaints.
