About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our Finance and Procurement Directorate as a Research Finance Officer. This is a full-time permanent appointment that will provide support and guidance to the University academic community and NHS Tayside staff on the end-to-end processes involved in the preparation and submission and post-award management of research grants.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide expert advice on interpretation of funding body terms and conditions and in particular eligible project costs;
  • Prepare and review project financial costing scenarios to optimise budget based on the full Economic Costing (fEC) methodology, including the calculation of salary costs and overhead;
  • Provide guidance to Principal Investigators on the use of various electronic grant application systems; ensure compliance with funding body terms and conditions as well as compliance with University policy and procedure;
  • Coordinate grant submissions to meet funding body deadlines, including complex multi-disciplinary and/or multi-centre submissions; responsible for approving online applications on behalf of the University;
  • Administration of grant awards
  • Liaise with colleagues in Research and Innovation Services and/or TASC legal for contractual requirements for awards; liaise with academic staff on all aspects of the grant application/awards procedure; liaise with School Research Administrative Leads to optimise processes and reporting requirements in relation to research awards management
