Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Specialist to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the University's mission by applying technical knowledge of specific programs associated with procurement applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procure routine goods and services at a reasonable cost, in a timely and professional manner.
  • Administer service support to the end users and vendors in compliance with state laws and regulation, and University policies and procedures.
  • Perform technical research and work with the Director on program assessments.
  • Manage department budgets and develop reports.
  • Provide administrative and research support to the Director, Associate Director, Procurement Managers, and staff in day-to-day operations and processes.
Requirements
  • Significant knowledge and experience with spreadsheets and database software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proficient in the use of standard office equipment including personal computers.
  • Experience in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing accordingly.
  • Ability to work independently and to communicate in a highly professional manner, both verbally and in writing.
  • Knowledge and experience with conducting departmental audits.
  • Knowledge and experience with conducting methods of quantitative research and analysis and writing work-related reports.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and experience with automated financial systems and e-procurement.
  • Knowledge and experience with governmental procurement law, policies, and procedures.
