Leader Education is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Teaching Assistant to join our team at a small SEND school in Wakefield. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties and a passion for supporting students with complex needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEMH difficulties in a 1:1 setting, promoting their emotional and mental well-being.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans.
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment, encouraging students to engage in learning and develop their skills.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a cohesive and supportive team approach.
Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people, particularly those with challenging behavior or additional needs.
- A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with complex needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
- Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to respond effectively to the changing needs of students and the school.
