Veterinary Public Health Professional

We are seeking a skilled Livestock Disease Control Officer to join our team at the Animal & Plant Health Agency. As a Livestock Disease Control Officer, you will play a critical role in safeguarding animal health and welfare by detecting and controlling diseases in livestock populations.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary medicine, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. You will be expected to travel frequently and work in various locations across Great Britain.

Responsibilities:
- Detect and control diseases in livestock populations, working closely with farmers, veterinarians, and scientists to develop and implement disease control strategies.
- Conduct regular inspections of farms, feed mills, and other locations to monitor animal health and detect diseases.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement disease surveillance programs, ensuring the agency's rapid and effective response to outbreaks.
- Travel frequently to various locations across Great Britain, working in different environments and weather conditions.
Requirements:
- A strong background in veterinary medicine, veterinary qualification, or knowledge of veterinary medicine.
- Excellent written and spoken English skills, with the ability to communicate complex information effectively.
- Knowledge of basic Health and Safety principles and safe working practices in agricultural settings.
Salary: £42,000 - £47,000 per annum, depending on experience.
