Job Description:

HFL Building Solutions Group is seeking an experienced Electrical Supervisor to work as part of a compliance team to ensure and improve compliance across all HFL Electrical services. This role will serve as the point of contact for the company's ECA accreditation and oversee internal audits to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Supervise and support all electrical engineers responsible for maintaining electrical systems in commercial facilities, ensuring work is carried out efficiently and to high standards.
  • Work Scheduling: Assist in planning by providing advice to help allocate tasks, ensuring engineers meet deadlines for routine maintenance, repairs, and testing within commercial properties.
  • ECA Accreditation: Act as the primary point of contact for the company's Electrical Contractors' Association (ECA) accreditation, ensuring compliance with their standards and maintaining all related documentation and communications.
  • Compliance Audits: Conduct regular internal audits of electrical engineers' work, ensuring adherence to IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671), ECA standards, and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Facilities Maintenance Oversight: Supervise electrical work related to the maintenance of commercial facilities, including lighting, power distribution, emergency systems, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Testing & Inspection: Oversee the periodic testing, inspection, and certification of electrical systems in line with statutory and industry requirements.
  • Fault Finding & Repairs: Lead engineers in diagnosing and repairing electrical issues in commercial facilities, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure strict compliance with Health & Safety standards, including conducting risk assessments and promoting safe working practices across all sites.
  • Documentation & Certification: Maintain accurate records of all electrical work, certifications, and audit outcomes, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Working Supervisor: Carry out and assist in any projects and small works when required.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and evaluate the performance of the electrical team, ensuring continuous development and adherence to best practices.
  • Compliance Updates: Stay informed about changes in electrical regulations and ensure that the company remains compliant with ECA and UK statutory requirements.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Electrical Qualification: NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation/Maintenance.
  • 18th Edition: IET Wiring Regulations (18th Edition) certification.
  • City & Guilds 2391/2394/2395: Inspection, Testing, and Certification of Electrical Installations.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable:

  • ECS Gold Card: Valid Electrotechnical Certification Scheme (ECS) Gold Card.
  • Facilities Maintenance Training: Experience or qualifications related to facilities management and building systems is desirable.
  • AM2: Achievement Measurement 2 (AM2) qualification or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Facilities Maintenance: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in electrical maintenance within commercial facilities, such as office buildings, retail centres, or industrial sites.
  • ECA Compliance: Experience in working with ECA accreditation or similar industry bodies.
  • Team Leadership: Proven track record of managing and supervising a team of electrical engineers.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management: Experience liaising with clients or facilities managers in a commercial environment.

  • Leadership & Team Management: Strong leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to manage a team of engineers effectively.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of commercial electrical systems and maintenance procedures.
  • Compliance & Auditing: Excellent understanding of regulatory and compliance standards, with experience conducting audits and ensuring adherence to industry best practices.
  • Problem-Solving: Effective troubleshooting skills for resolving complex electrical issues.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for liaising with clients, stakeholders, and team members.
