Job Title: Social Worker

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join our Children and Families team in Torfaen County Borough Council. As a Social Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting children and families in need, working closely with them to identify and address their needs, and providing guidance and support to help them achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake statutory duties in respect of children in need, child protection, and looked-after children.
  • Formulate and implement care plans based on sound assessments.
  • Contribute to inter-agency working and collaborate with other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for children and families.
  • Manage a caseload of lower-level support as well as cases where children or young people are in need of care and support, looked-after children, or in the court arena.
  • Deliver relevant interventions to safeguard children and ensure their needs are met, while aiming to effect long-term positive change to improve the life experiences of vulnerable children and young people.

Requirements:

  • Social Work qualification.
  • Registration with the Care Council for Wales.
  • Ability to travel throughout the borough and long distances in a timely manner.
  • Experience of formulating and implementing care plans based on sound assessments.
  • Commitment and enthusiasm in relation to achieving positive outcomes for children, young people, and their families.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience of working with children with disabilities.
