About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Ward Manager to join our team at Cotehele Ward, a 10-bedded, purpose-built mixed unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing clinical leadership and management support to the nursing team, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall success of the ward.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate programs of care
  • Manage the ward in the absence of the Ward Manager
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of written standards of care and electronic records
  • Support the Ward Manager in responding to concerns or complaints
  • Act as a clinical role model, demonstrating high standards of nursing practice
  • Participate in clinical supervision as a supervisor
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and other mental health professionals
  • Contribute to clinical governance and quality improvement initiatives
Requirements
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse with NMC registration
  • At least two years of post-registration experience at Band 6 in an acute NHS setting or similar setting
  • Experience of CPA/risk management, HR, sickness management, and performance within the workforce
  • Experience of Root Cause Analysis, complaint response, and SI investigation processes
  • Chairing complex risk management meetings
  • Research and development projects
  • Managing infection control policies in a ward setting
