About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team at Second Step, a leading mental health charity in the South West. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in delivering person-centred support to clients who are on a journey to recovery and living in our High Support Accommodation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Hold a caseload of clients and meet with them at least weekly to develop and facilitate support plans.
  • Develop and deliver groups and activities that promote social interaction and skill-building.
  • Maintain detailed case notes and ensure diligent reporting of incidents.
  • Champion hope and courage, responding to clients' needs and promoting their safety and wellbeing.

Second Step provides a range of accommodation-based services, including our High Support Accommodation, which offers a safe and supportive environment for clients to recover and rebuild their lives. We are committed to delivering high-quality support that is tailored to each client's needs and goals.

Person Specification

  • Numeracy and literacy to GCSE level/NVQ 2 or equivalent.
  • IT skills, including the ability to produce documents in Word and use email and the internet.
  • Knowledge of support needs of people with mental health needs.
  • Knowledge of risk/safety issues, especially when working with people with mental health, housing, offending, and other needs.
  • A minimum of one year's experience of working with people with mental health needs.
