Mental Health Support Specialist

Rethink Mental Illness is a leading charity provider of mental health services in England, dedicated to helping those severely impacted by mental illness. We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Support Specialist to join our team at Bristol Men's Crisis House (Bradford Lodge) Avonmouth.
This is a part-time position (28 hours per week) that offers a unique opportunity to make a real difference in people's lives. As a Mental Health Support Specialist, you will work alongside our mental health recovery workers to promote healthier and happier lifestyles among individuals with severe mental illness.
The role will involve forming strong relationships with clients, providing one-to-one support, and facilitating group activities that aim to improve quality of life. Examples of this may include supporting clients in gaining confidence to engage in physical activities, such as going to the gym, or participating in healthy eating sessions in a co-facilitating role.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Lived experience of mental health illness and the willingness to share elements of your personal journey in a boundaried approach, to inspire others and to work in a relatable way.
- Transferable life experience to apply to this role, understanding the challenges which co-exist alongside common mental health illnesses.
- Good educational background (GSCE English and Maths equivalent).
- Ability to plan, prioritise and organise. Ability to work under own initiative.
- Good computer skills
- Excellent communication skills
