Role Overview

We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join a secondary SEMH school in Ellesmere Port on a temporary, supply basis through Academics. In this role, you will work closely with individual students who require additional support due to SEMH challenges and behavioural difficulties.

Your primary focus will be to provide tailored support that promotes their academic progress, emotional well-being, and personal development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide 1:1 support to students with SEMH needs, helping them engage positively with their learning.
  • Implement strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour in line with the school's behaviour policies.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff, SENCO, and other professionals to create a supportive and inclusive environment.
  • Support the emotional and social development of students, promoting self-regulation and resilience.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behaviour, feeding back to the relevant staff.
Requirements
  • Experience working with students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour.
  • Ability to implement strategies to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals.
  • Knowledge of SEMH policies and procedures.
