Tuckers Solicitors, a leading criminal law firm, is seeking a skilled criminal duty solicitor to enhance our team of solicitors, paralegals, and barristers.

We represent clients across the full range of general and serious criminal offences, including drugs, violent crime, and sexual offences.

Our team is highly experienced in fraud, proceeds of crime, and prison law.

We offer specialist expertise in motoring law and are ranked in Chambers & Partners, The Legal 500, and The Times Best Law Firms.

Our cases are regularly featured in national news media.

Main Responsibilities

Represent clients in criminal proceedings, including trials and bail hearings

Liaise with clients, counsel, defendants, and other parties

Collate and review documentation and evidence

Obtain medical/accountancy evidence when required and interpret it accordingly

Litigate cases and conduct advocacy

Negotiate with prosecutors on behalf of clients

Manage a caseload efficiently

Essential Skills

Duty Solicitor accreditation

Knowledge of the Legal Aid system

Advocacy and litigation skills

Clean and valid practicing certificate at the time of applying

Excellent client care skills with the ability to represent vulnerable clients

Ability to work well as part of a team

IT literacy (Word, Outlook, Excel etc)

Preferred Skills

Additional certificates and qualifications such as the Advocates Gateway

Specialist expertise in one or more areas of criminal law, particularly motoring offences and financial crime
