Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Certification Engineer - Flameproof/Increased Safety to join our team at SGS.

Key Responsibilities

* Assess the design of equipment in accordance with IEC60079 series Standards
* Prepare assessment, certification, examination, and test reports in accordance with relevant procedure documents
* Evaluate drawing, photographic, and/or descriptive documentation required to specify equipment for compliance with relevant standards
* Prepare Certificates to describe equipment being certified, including acceptable variations in design
* Certification work for UKCA, ATEX, IECEx, and North American schemes
* Communicate with manufacturers or their agents, as necessary
* Estimate costs for assessment, testing, and/or certification exercises
* Specify sample equipment and special requirements for assessment, testing, and/or certification
* Provide specialist advice and guidance to government departments and manufacturers/users of equipment
* Review, check, and countersign work of others in specific areas

Requirements

* Essential
* Technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering through higher education
* Experience in assessment and certification of electrical and mechanical equipment in accordance with Ex Standards
* Desirable
* Degree-level qualification in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
