About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Engineering Operations Manager to lead our Breakdown and Repair teams at the London Gateway Port.

In this critical role, you will manage all direct and indirect members of the Breakdown, Welding, Electronic Repair, and Apprentice Teams, ensuring equipment and asset availability, reliability, and safety align with business objectives.

  • Lead and Coordinate Teams: Manage the activities of the teams to ensure optimal productivity and efficiency.
  • Maintain Equipment and Assets: Oversee the maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment to minimize downtime and disruption to operations.
  • Implement Quality Processes: Ensure systems and processes are in place to perform tasks to the highest quality standards.
  • Develop and Mentor Team Members: Guide and mentor direct and indirect reports, fostering a learning environment that encourages growth and development.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with London Gateway & DP World health and safety policies and regulations, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Monitor Performance: Regularly monitor team performance, providing feedback and implementing improvements where necessary.
  • Resource Allocation: Efficiently allocate resources and personnel to meet shift requirements and operational demands.
  • Apprentice Program Management: Oversee the Engineering Apprenticeship program, managing apprentice performance and development to support business growth.

Key Skills and Qualifications

  • Equipment Maintenance and Engineering: Excellent knowledge of equipment maintenance and engineering within a large operation.
  • Time-Critical Maintenance: Strong understanding of time-critical maintenance programs.
  • Professional Qualifications: Professionally qualified in mechanical and/or electrical discipline.
  • Experience in Equipment Supplier Management: Experience in managing equipment suppliers.
  • HSE Regulations: Experience and knowledge of HSE regulations related to equipment maintenance and activities.
  • Project Management: Experience in project management, budget preparation, and execution.
  • EAMS Experience: Experience with EAMS, specifically modules related to Maintenance, Inventory, and Procurement.
  • Maintenance Training and Apprenticeship Programs: Development of maintenance training programs and prior expertise in managing/coordinating apprentice programs.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication and personal skills with the ability to collaborate and diplomacy skills.
