About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Specialist to join our team at the London Borough of Newham. As a key member of our adult education service, you will play a vital role in supporting the educational development and pastoral care of adults with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Your primary responsibility will be to assist and contribute to the delivery of social inclusion programs for adults with SEND in various settings. You will work closely with our specialist tutors and the Inclusive Learning Manager to ensure the engagement and support of adults with SEND attending our programs.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting access arrangements in examination settings for individuals with SEND
  • Delivering workshops and training sessions for students as needed
  • Developing individual training plans and recording student progress
  • Creating training materials, including handouts, in a clear and accessible manner

We are looking for an individual with a relevant qualification in SEND and/or experience working with adults with special educational needs and disabilities. You should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
