Job Title: RCHW Site Operative

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented RCHW Site Operative to join our team at Essex County Council. As a key member of our Recycling Centre team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to the public, responding to queries and resolving issues in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations, maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for yourself and others.
  • Contribute to the smooth operation of the site, including waste management, maintenance, and administrative tasks.
  • Oversee waste movements, ensuring that materials are properly stored and processed for optimal recycling.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors and hauliers to ensure efficient and safe waste collection and disposal.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including data entry, record-keeping, and quality assurance.

Requirements:

  • GCSE level (or equivalent) in English and Maths, or NVQ level.
  • Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Excel and Outlook, with good administration skills.
  • General good health, with the ability to work on foot for extended periods.
  • IOSH Working Safely or equivalent safety accreditation is desirable.
  • Desirable: NPORS or similar Plant Operators Licence/Qualification on Material Handler, with previous experience operating plant machinery preferably within the waste industry.
