About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer - Wheelset Overhaul Specialist to join our team in Lincolnshire. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for performing overhaul and repair tasks for allocated wheelsets and bogies.

The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles and practices, with excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. You will be able to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team, with strong interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.

Salary and Benefits

This is a permanent, full-time position with a salary of approximately £17.00 per hour, plus overtime rates paid at 175% after 40 hours. A shift pattern of 8 hours per day will be worked, with alternate shifts from 6am-2pm and 2pm-10pm.

PPE will be provided when needed on site to ensure a safe working environment.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Perform overhaul and repair tasks for allocated wheelsets and bogies, adhering to relevant processes and procedures.
  • Conduct initial inspections, remove axle bearings, prepare components for dispatch, paint activities, and drain and fill oil on wheelset gearbox and couplings.
  • Hold an NVQ Level 3 qualification in mechanical engineering, or equivalent.
  • Have relevant experience in a similar role, preferably in a mechanical engineering environment.
  • Be able to accurately complete records of actions and operations according to procedures.
