About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Procurement Specialist to join our team at Trafford Council. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for leading procurement activity and providing quality procurement advice to our customers across a wide range of subject areas.

This is a career-grade role, and your starting band/salary will be dependent upon the skills and experiences demonstrated in the interview.

About You

You will be a commercially-minded individual with a strong understanding of procurement principles and practices. You will have experience in leading procurement activity within the public sector context, working at pace when required, and be prepared to work across multiple clients and projects at any one time.

You will be committed to continually learning and improving the way you do things to ensure effective outcomes, take ownership of your actions, and strive to get things right first time and learn from when things do go wrong.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead procurement activity and provide quality procurement advice to customers across a wide range of subject areas

• Develop and implement procurement strategies to achieve business objectives

• Manage procurement processes, including tendering, contract management, and supplier relationship management

• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and address procurement-related issues

• Stay up-to-date with changes in procurement laws, regulations, and best practices
