About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Pharmacist to join our team in primary care, providing expert clinical advice and support to GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

This is an exciting opportunity to work collaboratively with stakeholders across Ayrshire and Arran, promoting safe and effective prescribing practices and contributing to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

As a General Practice Clinical Pharmacist, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing GP practice-based clinical audit and patient-facing medication reviews on specific topics, promoting high-quality prescribing and cost-effective prescribing strategies.
  • Offering expert advice on prescribing and medicines use in various therapeutic areas and clinical settings, to GPs, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Providing guidance for patients and carers regarding medicines-related issues or treatment of minor ailments, signposting to other healthcare professionals as necessary.
  • Developing and implementing processes to ensure successful implementation of NHS Ayrshire & Arran prescribing strategies and policies.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent, be a member of the General Pharmaceutical Council (including evidence of continuing professional development), and possess relevant pharmacy experience.

You will be required to demonstrate advanced clinical pharmacy knowledge, skills, and judgment, as well as excellent communication and teamwork skills.

About You

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

  • A Master's degree in Pharmacy or equivalent qualification.
  • Membership of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
  • Vocational Training (Level 2) or training experience to an equivalent level.
  • Relevant pharmacy experience, preferably in primary care.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
