  • Take charge of the digital newsdesk during evening and weekend shifts, ensuring swift and accurate coverage of breaking news.
  • Work closely with home news and foreign editors to commission and optimize subscription-driving digital content.
  • Liaise with other departments, including video, graphics, design, SEO, and social media, to ensure seamless content delivery.
  • React quickly to breaking news and oversee live blogs to maintain our audience's engagement.
  • Attend conference and planning meetings on behalf of the desk, ensuring our digital plans are aligned with the company's goals.
  • Coordinate digital plans for major upcoming news events, ensuring our content is timely and relevant.
Essential Skills:
  • Proven experience in digital editing in a national or regional newsroom.
  • Ability to write and edit articles clearly, concisely, and to house style.
  • Capacity to work quickly to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Experience in commissioning digital content and understanding of media law.
  • Excellent news sense and current affairs knowledge.
  • Ability to write compelling digital headlines that drive engagement.
Desirable Skills:
  • Experience in planning coverage of future news events.
  • Understanding of SEO and social media principles.
  • Knowledge of newsroom data and analytics to inform content decisions.
