Job Title: Specialist Anaesthetist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Specialist Anaesthetist to join our team at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide high-quality anaesthetic care to patients referred to the department for diagnosis and treatment.
  • Participate in educational and governance meetings to ensure adherence to clinical governance standards.
  • Meet Continuing Professional Development (CPD) requirements and contribute to the development of clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Support the Hospital's Clinical Governance Strategy and participate in clinical audit.
  • Contribute to the development of the service and provide continuing training for clinical staff.
Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Provision of elective and emergency anaesthesia services.
  • Member of the on-call team at nights and weekends.
  • Pre-operative assessment of patients.
  • Anaesthetic support to the Intensive Care Unit and Emergency Department.
  • Provide general advice to medical colleagues, registrars, and other junior grades.
Medical Education and Teaching:
  • Participate and contribute to departmental meetings.
  • Provide training where required.
Clinical Audit and Clinical Governance:
  • Conduct and present regular audits.
Continuing Professional Development:
  • Participate in continuing professional development at local and national levels.
  • Implement audit and research findings in clinical practice.
  • Prepare and participate in an annual appraisal in accordance with Trust policy.
Policy, Planning, and Management:
  • Support the Trust to deliver quality patient care.
  • Contribute to the development of clinical and organisational protocols and guidelines.
  • Assist in the development of the Annual Service Plan for the Directorate and Division.
