Job Opportunity: Agricultural Adviser

The Cairngorms National Park Authority is seeking an experienced Agricultural Adviser to join our team. As a key member of our nature and climate change team, you will play a crucial role in supporting farmers and crofters in the National Park to achieve sustainability in food production, biodiversity, and net-zero objectives.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to animate and deliver a programme of projects, advice, and support that will help farmers and crofters in the National Park to become sustainable farm businesses producing high-quality food, increasing biodiversity, and mitigating and adapting to the climate emergency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver new projects and initiatives to support sustainable farm businesses in the National Park.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to farmers and crofters on sustainable farm practices, biodiversity, and net-zero objectives.
  • Work closely with the nature and climate change team to ensure that our conservation and land management objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders, including farmers, crofters, and community groups, to promote sustainable farming practices and biodiversity.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent understanding and experience of upland farming and crofting, farm business models, and sustainability.
  • Good knowledge of upland farm biodiversity and experience of delivering Nature-Friendly farming projects.
  • Experience of project management and delivery, including procurement and managing contractors.
  • Good understanding of Scottish agricultural policy and legislation.
