Position Overview

We are seeking a proactive and skilled electrical maintenance technician to become a vital part of our dedicated team. This role involves the upkeep of various systems in both newly constructed and existing facilities, requiring the ability to work independently while adhering to high standards.

The ideal candidate will possess a flexible mindset and demonstrate proficiency in a range of building maintenance skills. Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities are crucial, as you will be expected to utilize BMES, O&MS, and relevant testing equipment in accordance with manufacturer guidelines. Willingness to engage in ongoing training as mandated by the organization is essential.

Participation in the on-call rotation is a necessary aspect of this role, which includes additional compensation after a qualifying period. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, from 08:00 to 16:00, with an on-call schedule approximately every six weeks.

Key Responsibilities

As a member of the estates team, your responsibilities will encompass the maintenance of a diverse array of equipment and systems, including:

  • Low Voltage distribution systems
  • Generator units
  • Fire alarm systems
  • Nurse call systems
  • Lighting systems within healthcare facilities

The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work autonomously, manage their workload effectively, and ensure that the properties are maintained to a high standard while adhering to budgetary constraints and meeting all regulatory inspections and testing requirements. The role will primarily focus on electrical services, with some mechanical tasks as needed. Responsibilities may also include:

  • Steam and gas heating systems
  • Legionella control in compliance with HTM04 and L8 standards
  • Plumbing and drainage repairs
  • Maintenance of doors, windows, and locks

During out-of-hours on-call duties, the technician will be responsible for securing and/or performing temporary repairs across the estate's infrastructure.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate must have completed a relevant trade apprenticeship and/or possess a nationally recognized electrical qualification.

Familiarity with the safe operation and maintenance of IT equipment, including computers and smartphones, is essential. The ability to document and communicate information effectively in written, verbal, and digital formats is required. Proficiency in computer usage is necessary, as tasks will be assigned through CAFM software on a smartphone, and you will need to utilize email and the internet for ordering supplies and sourcing information. A charge card will be provided for business-related expenses.

A vehicle may be provided for business use only, and a valid driving license is mandatory.

  • City and Guilds 232 Part 2 or equivalent
  • Current edition of the IEE Regulations
