About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Principal Ecologist to join our team at AECOM, delivering expert ecological services to clients across the UK and Ireland.

In this key role, you will lead and support the preparation of high-quality bids and tenders for ecological services, particularly in the energy, defence, and water sectors. You will also plan, schedule, and organize all phases of ecological project work, ensuring necessary resources, budgets, and controls are in place to meet both programme and budget requirements.

This position offers a unique blend of challenge, innovation, and collaboration, with opportunities to work on diverse projects, share knowledge, and develop your skills in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement ecological strategies, leveraging expertise in habitat and protected species surveys, impact assessment, and biodiversity mitigation.
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to provide comprehensive ecological services, including net gain and management planning for biodiversity.
  • Contribute to the growth and development of the ecology team, sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues.

Requirements:

  • A strong understanding of UK and Irish wildlife conservation, including at least one major habitat type or species.
  • Proven experience in leading the planning and delivery of work in the ecology projects in the UK or Ireland.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • A commitment to ongoing learning and professional development, staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices.

Salary and Benefits:

  • A competitive salary of £55,000 - £65,000 per annum, depending on experience.
