About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Ecologist to join our team at AECOM, delivering professional services throughout the project lifecycle. This is an exciting opportunity to further your career in an established, successful, and respected consultancy.

As a Principal Ecologist, you will be responsible for leading and supporting the preparation of high-quality bids and tenders for ecological services, particularly in the energy, defence, and water sectors. You will also plan, schedule, and organize all phases of ecological project work, ensuring necessary resources, budgets, and controls are in place to meet both programme and budget requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the preparation of high-quality and commercially astute bids and tenders for ecological services.
  • Plan, schedule, and organize all phases of ecological project work, ensuring necessary resources, budgets, and controls are in place.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with other members of the ecology team, within projects and with clients.
  • Lead and support production of ecology chapters for environmental statements and protected species licence applications.
  • Author or technically check project deliverables to ensure high-quality outputs.

Requirements:

  • A strong understanding of UK and Irish wildlife conservation, including at least one major habitat type or species.
  • A proven track record of leading the planning and delivery of work in the ecology projects in the UK or Ireland.
  • An excellent driving licence and willingness to visit other locations on company business.
  • A commitment to innovation and continuing professional development.
  • Excellent field skills in at least one specialist area.
  • Positive behaviours and values with respect to client care, pragmatic decision making, and building working relationships.
