Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Disease Prevention Specialist to join our Infection Prevention and Control Team. As a key member of the team, you will play a crucial role in preventing and controlling infection in our acute hospital setting.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in infection control, with experience in investigating, monitoring, and raising awareness in the prevention, surveillance, investigation, management, and control of healthcare-associated infections.

Main Responsibilities

  • Investigate and monitor healthcare-associated infections to identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and implement effective strategies to prevent and control infection in our hospital setting.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to healthcare professionals and support staff on infection control practices.
  • Work closely with the DIPC, DDIPC, and Consultant Microbiologists to ensure seamless collaboration and communication.
  • Lead and manage the infection control nursing and administrative team to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Requirements

  • A First Level Registered Nurse with a Specialist Practitioner qualification in infection control.
  • A minimum of five years' experience working in infection control or a related area.
  • Masters degree in infection control.
  • Teaching qualification.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Project management skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Excel and development of software packages to facilitate management and prevention of infection.

Estimated Salary: £64,000 - £84,000 per annum
